I have an amazing story to tell you about a kind Hippo:

I went to visit my friends in the wild and on the way I saw a herd of Impala going down to a waterhole to go and drink some water.  All of a sudden a big Crocodile jumped out of the water and grabbed one of the big male Impalas.  The Impala kicked and snorted, fighting his way out, but the Crocodile just dragged him deeper and deeper into the water.

On the side of the water, a raft (group of Hippos) were enjoying the afternoon sun.  A big male saw the Crocodile dragging the poor Impala into the water.  He immediately ran to help the Impala.  He thought:  I am bigger than you, you nasty Croc!  I can sort you out!  There was a big fight between the Hippo and the Crocodile.  Try and fight a fully grown male Hippo who weighs about 2 300kg .........  Quite a challenge, I would say!!!  After a lot of splashing water and fighting noises, the Hippo got hold of the Crocodile’s hip.  The Crocodile immediately gave up, and swam away in a flash to a safer area.  He quickly realised that this was a no win situation.

Very gently, the Hippo pushed the injured Impala to shore.  With his enormous head, he tried to keep the head of the Impala up.  It was truly an amazing sight to see such a big animal trying to help a small animal like an Impala.
